The cost of a Dolby Atmos installation changes with the speaker layout and the room work needed to support it. Compare a complete 5.1.2 or 7.1.4 scope rather than a receiver’s marketing label.
01Start with channels and amplification
A 5.1.2 system needs seven powered speaker channels plus the active subwoofer connection. A 7.1.4 layout needs eleven powered speaker channels; check whether the chosen AVR requires additional external amplification.
02Include ceiling access and cable routes
Account for speaker brackets or back boxes, supported mounting, acoustic/fire requirements, wiring paths, ceiling making-good and access for maintenance. Upward-firing modules have different room requirements from overhead speakers.
03Compare the same deliverables
Separate speakers, subwoofers, AVR, external amplification, cable quantities, labour and configuration. Add measurement/calibration only when its scope is explicitly stated.
Send your room drawing, ceiling construction, intended seating and existing equipment list. This avoids pricing unnecessary replacement equipment or unsupported channel layouts.
