Screen diagonal is not screen width
The table shows the visible 16:9 image, rounded to one decimal inch. The outer frame and mounting clearance depend on the product. A 120-inch screen is about 104.6 inches wide, not 120 inches wide.

A bigger screen is not automatically better. The ideal projection size depends on how far you sit, how much room you have, the projector output and the type of content you watch.

SLV / ROOM-FIRST PLANNING
Screen size is measured diagonally, but the wall must accommodate the image width, image height and frame. Match screen size to the main seat, projector output, room lighting and installation clearances.
The table shows the visible 16:9 image, rounded to one decimal inch. The outer frame and mounting clearance depend on the product. A 120-inch screen is about 104.6 inches wide, not 120 inches wide.
Measure from your eyes to the image surface. The calculator shows horizontal viewing angle; use it to compare options, then test a taped outline for comfort. Content, eyesight and preference matter.
A larger image spreads the same light over more area. Ask for a brightness assessment using the intended projector, screen material, lamp/laser mode and actual ambient light.
Throw ratio equals lens-to-screen distance divided by image width in the same unit. A 120-inch 16:9 image is about 8.72 ft wide; a 1.50 ratio gives approximately 13.1 ft from lens to screen.
This is not the distance from the back of the cabinet. Ultra-short-throw projectors need model-specific cabinet and screen-height drawings.
| Diagonal | 16:9 image width | 16:9 image height |
|---|---|---|
| 100 in | 87.2 in | 49.0 in |
| 120 in | 104.6 in | 58.8 in |
| 133 in | 115.9 in | 65.2 in |
| 150 in | 130.7 in | 73.5 in |
16:9 image geometry. Enter lens-to-screen throw ratio from your exact projector manual; cabinet distance is different for UST models.
Geometry is a planning aid, not a compatibility or comfort guarantee. Add frame clearance, wall treatment depth, ventilation and the manufacturer’s mounting offsets. No data is submitted.

Your main seating position should be considered before selecting the screen diagonal or aspect ratio.
As screen size increases, the same projector light is spread across a larger area.
Speaker placement, side-wall treatment and sightlines should remain practical around the screen.
Movies, sports and gaming can have different preferences for size and aspect ratio.
The centre speaker, left and right speakers and acoustic treatment all need to work around the screen. This is one reason screen selection should happen before final installation rather than as an afterthought.
Send SLV your room dimensions and seating distance. We can help narrow down a practical screen size and the projector requirements that go with it.
