Ceiling light rejecting (CLR) screens are designed for ultra short throw projection and are particularly useful when the room has overhead or ambient light.

Screens marketed as ceiling-light-rejecting for UST use are directional. Confirm the exact material and projector combination rather than relying on CLR as a universal specification.
A material designed to reject overhead light may behave differently with light entering from the sides or behind the viewers. Review the manufacturer’s optical guidance and test the intended lighting arrangement.
UST light reaches the screen at a steep angle, making surface irregularities and alignment errors conspicuous. Use the specified frame or tensioning system and follow the marked orientation.
The screen’s visible bottom edge, frame and cabinet height must suit the projector’s installation drawing. Check centre-speaker space and airflow before ordering joinery.

The optical design of a CLR screen is intended to accept light from the UST projector while rejecting a significant portion of light arriving from above. This makes the pairing useful in many living-room environments.
Screen geometry and optical structure should be compatible with the specific UST projector.
CLR can reduce the effect of overhead lighting compared with a basic projection surface.
UST projection requires careful screen and projector alignment for a clean image.
A standard screen may work well in a controlled dark room. In a brighter living room, a suitable CLR screen can provide better practical performance with a compatible UST projector.
