UST Projector Setup: Cabinet, Screen & Alignment
An ultra-short-throw projector places a large image from a short distance, but it needs precise cabinet and screen geometry. A small change in cabinet position or screen flatness can visibly affect alignment.
Match the screen to the projection angle
A directional UST-compatible screen must be installed in the correct orientation. Confirm compatibility, frame flatness and the expected behaviour with the room’s actual light sources.
Do not assume every screen sold as ALR or CLR works with every UST projector. Ask for the screen manufacturer’s compatibility information.
Plan the furniture and handover
Use a stable cabinet with ventilation and access. Check speaker obstruction, remote control access, pets/children reaching the beam path and the manufacturer’s viewing-safety guidance.
Align the cabinet and screen physically, then confirm focus and geometry across the whole image. Save settings and explain how moving the cabinet affects the picture.

Where UST projectors work well
UST systems can be attractive for living rooms and spaces where ceiling mounting is difficult. They need careful alignment because the image travels only a short distance before reaching the screen.
Minimal ceiling mounting
The projector can sit on a low cabinet or dedicated console instead of hanging from the ceiling.
Large image
Many UST systems are designed for large-screen viewing from a short throw position.
Screen pairing
A compatible fixed-frame or UST-oriented screen can improve image performance in brighter rooms.
